There are a number of different lock standards to look for, such as TS007 3 Star Rating, Secured by Design, SS312 Sold Secure Diamond Accredited amongst others, but all UK locks should have BS3621. This type of accreditation is often the standard that insurance companies accept.
Step 2: Keep Your Car Keys Out of Reach
Burglar are opportunists and more likely to try to steal your car if they can see your car keys from outside your home, and easy to grab either through the letterbox or snapping your door lock. The best advice is to keep the your car keys hidden and out of view.
Secondly, consider fitting a cage over the inside of your letter box to prevent burglars “fishing” through it for your keys. It is easy when you come home late and tired to remember to hide your keys so this simple tactic will help you ion those forgetful moments, and it is very cheap to install.
